Former Directors of Pazarić Institute Sentenced to Prison

(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has definitively sentenced Jasmin Ćerimagić, Senada Muharemović, and Redžep Salić, former directors of the Institute for the Care of Mentally Disabled Children and Youth Pazarić.

As stated by the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, they were convicted of the criminal offense of dereliction of duty.

“Jasmin Ćerimagić was sentenced to a prison term of 4 years and six months. Senada Muharemović and Redžep Salić were sentenced to one year in prison each for the same offense. At the same time, they are prohibited from holding positions, engaging in activities, or performing functions in institutions for the protection of persons with mental disabilities for a period of 10 years.

They were convicted for, from 2009 to 2019, while holding director positions at the Institute, by failing to supervise and continuously monitor the physical and mental condition of the wards by professional and medical staff, they clearly acted negligently in the performance of their duties, resulting in a severe violation of the rights of the Institute's wards, including children and minors,” the statement from the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office reads.
