Bilateral Talks: Izetbegović and Čović, Izetbegović and Komšić, Will There Be a Tripartite Meeting?

Two separate meetings have been scheduled for today to discuss the formation of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deputy President of SDA Bakir Izetbegović will first speak with the leader of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, and then with the President of the Democratic Front Željko Komšić. Whether the three of them will hold a joint meeting afterwards is not yet known, reports the Patria news agency.

At last week's session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the new Government of the Federation was not confirmed because it turned out there was an “excess” of Serbs.

This was followed by public polemics over whether the government was constitutional or unconstitutional, and whether the declaration of ethnicity of federal ministers should be verified by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to statements from CEC members, they have nothing to do with this “national issue,” meaning it is exclusively a matter of political agreement between Izetbegović, Čović, and Komšić.

Member of the Presidency of the Democratic Front Emir Suljagić earlier told Patria that during the negotiations, Čović said he would provide his sixth minister from among the Others, and that the three Serbian ministers would be provided by the Democratic Front. However, at the parliamentary session, the HDZ leader changed his mind, and Zora Dujmović, the future Minister of Culture and Sports, was ordered to declare herself as a Serb, thereby blocking the process.
