Hamdija Kreševljaković was a Bosnian and Herzegovinian historian and writer. Born in Sarajevo on this day, September 18, 1888, died July 9, 1959, he is an important part of the intellectual heritage of Bosniaks, writes the news agency Patria.

Kreševljaković was born in Vratnik, in Lubina Street where he grew up. He spent his working life in education, first as a teacher, and later as a lecturer in Sarajevo schools. He searched for knowledge for a long time and diligently. He taught himself many foreign languages, including Turkish, which he mastered so well that he could easily use archival material in that language.

He focused his interest on researching the socio-economic conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Ottoman rule.

Kreševljaković published works in the editions of the Scientific Society, the National Museum, the Historical Society, the Oriental Institute, the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, and the Encyclopedia of the FPRY.

Among Kreševljaković's outstanding works are: "Old Bosnian Towns", "Old Herzegovinian Towns", "Dženetići - A Contribution to the Study of Feudalism", "The Coppersmith Craft in Bosnia and Herzegovina", "Contributions to the History of Bosnian Towns under Turkish Rule", "Captaincies", "The Saddlery Craft in Old Sarajevo", and dozens of others, writes NAP.
