BHRT publishes regulations for watching World Cup matches in public places

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The most important event of the year in the world, the World Cup in football, begins on June 14 in Russia.

Although it was previously said that viewers in BiH would not be able to watch World Cup matches on public television due to the poor financial situation of the public broadcaster, BHRT has nevertheless managed to secure the rights to broadcast the matches, so viewers in BiH will have the opportunity to watch the matches from Russia.

BHRT has published the regulations and price list for watching World Cup matches in public places.

According to the rules, there are three forms of Public Viewing of the 2018 World Cup matches:

1. Commercial Public Viewing Events are public viewings of matches where the organizer of the Public Viewing derives commercial benefit from it (charges for tickets, commercialization and sponsorship of the Public Viewing, and any other form of economic benefit for the organizer of the Public Viewing),

2. Non-Commercial Public Viewing Events are public viewings where the organizer of the Public Viewing has no economic benefit from it. This group includes cafes, pubs, restaurants that do not charge for tickets or in any other way commercialize the Public Viewing. They do not need a license for Public Viewing but must still adhere to FIFA rules.

3. Special Non-Commercial Public Viewing Event are non-commercial public viewings attended by at least 5,000 people.

Important obligations of the Public Viewing organizer:

-  is obliged to exclusively use the BHT1 signal as the holder of media rights for the territory of BiH

- must bear the costs of receiving and broadcasting the signal from the matches 

- has the possibility to broadcast only live matches, and it is strictly forbidden to replay or delay broadcast the matches 

- the organizer is not allowed to edit, montage, cut, add or insert sponsor elements into the match broadcast, but only to broadcast the same signal received from BHT1 

- during the broadcast of the first and last match of the 2018 World Cup, the organizer must broadcast the live signal at least 20 minutes before the match and 10 minutes after the match, including all commercial elements and trailers that are also broadcast on BHT1. For other matches of the 2018 World Cup, the organizer must broadcast the live signal at least 10 minutes before the match and 10 minutes after the match

- it is strictly forbidden to organize Public Viewing by political parties or candidates

The organizer must have permission from the rights holder (BHRT), from local authorities for organizing the Public Viewing, and from FIFA (with the exception of non-commercial Public Viewings for fewer than 5,000 viewers).

The request for obtaining a FIFA permit for Public Viewing is submitted via the FIFA website.
