BHRT: We also approached Telekom Srbije for a possible agreement on match broadcasts, we never received a response

(Patria) - After Radio-television of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that it would broadcast Bosnia and Herzegovina's matches from the World Cup, and thanked Telekom Srbije for the granted rights, a reaction also arrived from BHRT.

"We learned from the media that you will be able to follow the matches of the BiH national team at the 2026 World Cup on the program of Radio Television of the Federation of BiH. We absolutely welcome this move, because we believe it is very important that you can watch the performances of our national team on the program of one of the public broadcasters in BiH.

Given that we have received a large number of your inquiries, we want to inform you of the fact that BHRT did everything in its power, in the difficult situation we find ourselves in, but unfortunately, we were unable to purchase the rights to broadcast the World Cup in football.

Despite the catastrophic financial situation due to the huge debts of RTRS for the RTV fee that belongs to us by law, we offered a significant amount of 1.5 million euros for the broadcast rights.

Unfortunately, the rights holder FIFA accepted a higher offer and sold the rights for the entire region (except Croatia) to the company Arena Sport, whose owner is Telekom Srbije.

Even after the rights were sold, BHRT repeatedly, through formal and informal contacts, business and private, tried to talk to Telekom Srbije about the possibility of purchasing part of the rights or reaching an agreement that would enable broadcasts of at least the matches of the BiH national football team on BHRT. Unfortunately, we received no response to all these initiatives, nor an opportunity for concrete negotiations.

The rights to broadcast the matches of the BiH national team, as we learned today, were successfully secured by colleagues from RTV Federation of BiH, and we believe this is a very good move thanks to which citizens will be able to watch the national team on one of the public services in our country.

BHRT has always been with the Dragons, both when they lost and when they won, and in its own way will give full support to the national team, and we thank all of you for your understanding and support for both our Dragons and BHRT. We will all celebrate together," it was stated from BHRT.
