Bosnia and Herzegovina national team finishes eighth at Homeless World Cup in Scotland

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national homeless football team finished the Homeless World Cup in Glasgow in 8th place. Mexico won the titles in both competitions, the men's team defeated Brazil, and the women's team defeated Kyrgyzstan. The host of next year's World Cup is Oslo.

After entering the quarterfinals, our boys failed to qualify for the semifinals. The players from Chile had a bit more luck, celebrating a 5:4 victory.

After this, our boys also played the first match for positions 5-8 and lost to Portugal 4:3, and then to Indonesia with a score of 5:4.

- From a results perspective, by entering the quarterfinals of the competition we achieved our goal. In the end, we recorded 10 wins and three losses with just a one-goal difference. However, we are much happier that we gave these guys the opportunity to feel the thrill of representing their Bosnia and Herzegovina, to meet other people, cultures, their behaviors, and thus strengthen themselves, their characters, their views of the world, but above all to boost their self-confidence, awareness of themselves and their values and abilities, which even they themselves are not aware they possess. They showed their best to the world: Esmin, Mehmed, Jovan, Sefer, Danijel, Eldin, and Asmir - stated Elmedin Škrebo, selector and leader of the MFS – EMMAUS project.

MFS-EMMAUS, as the bearer of the BiH Homeless National Team project, through five years of its existence and implementation, testifies that sport is one of the ways to bring good to a person and thus build his world more positively.

Proof of this is also the support that various partners, donors, and friends have provided to the project over all these years, such as the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Mayor of Gračanica Nusret Helić, the Mayor of Doboj Obren Petrović, the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pharmacies PZU LA VITA from Gračanica, the Association Pomozi.ba from Sarajevo, Eurovez d.o.o. from Tešanj, Remont-Zanat d.o.o. from Doboj East, and Oaza from Tešanj, and we also had support from our BiH national team goalkeeper Asmir Begović.
