Bosnia and Herzegovina's national homeless team traveled to Cardiff for the World Cup

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The BiH street football national team, publicly known as the homeless team, departed this morning for the 17th Homeless World Cup, which will be held this year in Cardiff from July 27 to August 3.

The association "International Forum of Solidarity-EMMAUS" from Doboj Istok, as a partner of the "Homeless World Cup" (HWC) organization from Scotland, has been the holder of this project since September 2011. Since then, the BiH homeless team has participated in world championships in Mexico, Poland, Chile, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Norway, achieving their greatest success by winning the vice-world champion title at the championship in Chile, MFS-EMMAUS announced.

For several years now, the trip has traditionally been financially supported by the City of Doboj and the City of Gračanica, namely mayors Boris Jerinić and Nusret Helić, who provided air tickets and visa processing costs.

For the second year in a row, Nardin Mulahusejnović and Besim Šerbečić, young national team players of BiH, have partially supported the national team by purchasing sneakers for the players this year.

The players are young people from socially vulnerable and marginalized groups in our society, including the homeless, displaced and refugee persons, children without parental care, residents accommodated in collective housing and refugee settlements, as well as members of minorities.

A greater result than the competition itself, which is the ultimate goal of the project, are the positive experiences and encounters that have changed the lives of the players and made them feel proud as national team members and ambassadors of their country. One of the rules of the championship is that a player can only play in one championship, in order to help a larger number of people benefit from and experience this project. So, this year, the colors of BiH are defended by: Zlatić Alen, Selimović Armin, Starigorac Selmir, Jahić Simbad, Bajkanović Jovan, Ramić Izet, Delagić Admir, and among them is Fahrudin Muminović, a young man who survived a massacre as a child in Zvornik and whose life story touched the public.
