Bosnian mathematicians win two bronze medals at Olympiad in Thailand

Bosnian mathematicians placed 43rd at the Mathematics Olympiad held in Thailand, competing against 577 participants from 104 countries across five continents, which is one of the best results for Bosnian mathematicians in the last ten years, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Salko Zlatko Lagumdžija and Milica Đukić won bronze medals, while Neira Kurtović, Adisa Bolić, Mirza Arnaut and Demir Papić received Honorable Mentions at this prestigious competition.

Bosnian mathematicians left behind countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Slovenia, Finland, the Czech Republic...

From the Western Balkans, only Serbia performed better than the Bosnian mathematicians.

The IMO was first held in Romania in 1956 with the participation of only seven countries. Today, 104 countries take part in the Mathematics Olympiad, reports NAP.
