Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador on a Humanitarian Mission: $25,000 Raised for Two Foundations

Ambassadors of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Australia, and Denmark organized a fundraising evening in Islamabad, Pakistan, to finance two foundations: the "Jamila Sultana Foundation" for cancer patients and the "The Fayyaz Sumbal charity" for widows and orphans of police officers killed in the line of duty, reports the Patria News Agency.

A total of $25,000 was raised, and the money was immediately handed over to the directors of these foundations.

In his brief address, BiH Ambassador Nedim Makarević emphasized that BiH is very grateful to Pakistan for both material and financial assistance that this country provided to BiH during last year's floods, and this is one way of showing gratitude.

He also stressed that the hearts of BiH citizens are with the families of those who perished in Peshawar and once again strongly condemned this act of terrorism.

Ambassador Makarević performed with a musical group he named Envoys, whose members included the Ambassadors of Australia (Peter Heyward), Denmark (Jesper Moller Sorensen), and Japan (Hiroshi Inomata).

The director of the Serena Foundation and one of the co-organizers, Mr. Aziz Boolani, stated that this is just one of many gestures showing that BiH cares about Pakistan.

The surprise of the evening was the future EU Ambassador to BiH,

Lars Gunar Wigemark. In his address, he praised this humanitarian action and, accompanied by Ambassador Makarević, to the general delight of those present, sang the Beatles hit "Yesterday".
