Bevanda: Council of Ministers session postponed due to different approaches to certain agenda items

(Patria) - Regarding today's postponement of the session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda stated that as Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, I participate in the work of the collegium held before sessions, and after the remarks were presented, an agreement was reached between the Chair and the two deputies to postpone the session and schedule it for July 23 this year.

"My position remains unchanged, and I expect sessions to be prepared and held in accordance with the law and the Rules of Procedure, with a high degree of consensus. Given that there are different approaches to certain items prepared by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the collegium decided to try to harmonize and complete the obligations ahead of us before the next session. As is known, the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH prepared on time, and the Council of Ministers adopted the budget of BiH institutions and international obligations of BiH for 2019, as well as the Decision on temporary financing for the third quarter of this year, which has not yet been adopted, but salaries for June were lawfully paid and foreign debt is being repaid regularly.

Given that the Draft Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and International Obligations of BiH was submitted to the Presidency of BiH seven months ago, we expect it to be adopted and forwarded to the parliamentary procedure as soon as possible. Adopting the budget is the best way to finance BiH institutions because there are no restrictions as with temporary financing, nor possible reductions in operational capacity," Bevanda said.
