(Patria) - At the commemoration for the death of legendary Bosnian singer Halid Bešlić, held at the National Theatre in Sarajevo, actor Enis Bešlagić addressed those present.
"I came from the road, and yesterday there was a public commemoration. I wanted to express my condolences with the people. I will speak about people who did not know him – for them, Halid's song was an emotion. These are generations that will remember Bešlić as a kind of emotion they have not felt for a long time," said Bešlagić.
He added:
"I came from Tešanj and watched those people, wondering who all these people are, and Halid impressed me the most. I was once a student, and he would have lunch with me. Only now am I learning who Halid was – like the whole world. Yesterday a catharsis happened. I feel some power, because of those children who ran and carried speakers... These are people who never had coffee with him. I wanted people who spent so much time with him to experience his greatness. I expected greater engagement from Sarajevo, but having the breadth of Halid Bešlić is a burden. You go to any city and they tell you: 'You went to them.' That is why I am happy that we are all part of this story that was born yesterday – new generations who love Halid without any awareness of him."
With his emotional story, Bešlagić reminded of the universal influence of Halid Bešlić and his ability to unite people of different generations through music.
