Berilo released from custody and sent home, banned from performing mayoral duties

(Patria) - Mayor of Trnovo Municipality Ibro Berilo, who was arrested and detained at the beginning of August, has been released from Zenica Penitentiary and has arrived home, his lawyer Senad Pizović confirmed to Faktor.

Instead of extending his detention, as requested by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo imposed a ban on Berilo from performing the duties of municipal mayor, as well as a ban on meeting with other suspects in this case.

- We will appeal this decision, as we believe there was no need to impose these restrictive measures - Pizović said.

Besides Berilo, let us remind you, in the operation codenamed "Incitat", Adis Mulaosmanović, Edina Džigal, and Nađa Milišić, the assistant to the municipal mayor in Trnovo for geodesy, property-legal affairs, and real estate cadastre, were also arrested.

They are under investigation on suspicion of committing criminal offenses of association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses, abuse of position or authority, and money laundering, as stipulated by the Criminal Code of FBiH.

Berilo, Milišić, and Mulaosmanović were taken into custody, while Edina Džigal was issued restrictive measures.

Nermin Demirović, former director of Sarajevošume, is also suspected in the same case; his detention was previously revoked and restrictive measures were imposed on him.

In the recently held Local Elections, Berilo was re-elected as the mayor of Trnovo Municipality.
