Beljo: I am fighting for my coach Damir Zubac who unfortunately has to leave Bosnia and Herzegovina

Damir Beljo, one of our best boxers, will fight for the European title tonight against German Maik Kurzweil. The Bomber from the Neretva will compete in a spectacle taking place in the German city of Greifswald, and his match is scheduled to start around 9:30 PM. Ahead of this career-defining match, Damir Beljo posted on his Facebook profile, reports the Patria news agency.

- Thank you all for your support, and most of all thank you to dear God for loving me and giving me this opportunity. Thank Him for allowing me to speak and for my people to hear me. I come from a small house in Cim, from my humble parents, and I have a brother through whom God proved that angels exist on Earth. That house is full of God's blessing, and truly, when I look back at my life, I realize how much God loves me and how far He has brought me. I am the European champion and one of the main contenders for the world title, and more importantly, I am a champion in my heart, because I am overjoyed and soon my beloved wife will give birth to my son... Thank you, God!

A big thank you to all my friends, all Herzegovinians, Bosnians, people from Rama, and especially to my coaches and my brave sparring partners.. I want to congratulate the anniversary of the association "TOGETHER FOR OUR CITY" led by Nermin Mehić, who does great things, humanitarian actions for our city. I dedicate this match to my fitness coach Damir Zubac, who has always been by my side.

Unfortunately, he now has to leave our city and me, because there is no place for him here. Although he is a doctor of science, first in his generation and the best student who earned his doctorate at the University of Split, published six scientific papers, he is forced to leave the city and the country in order to live... I said this intentionally, not only because of my loss, but because of the loss of all of us, how many such as Damir there are...

I hope that in this regard, the policy will change, that capable people will come to the positions where they should be, and that things will get better for us! Damir, I will fight tonight as you fight. I will give everything for victory! And tonight, by my side goes the flag of Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the flag of Rama (because my father is from Rama and that is my ancestral land), and of course the flag of our country Bosnia and Herzegovina. I hope that soon the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina will fly in the fight for the world title! Thank you all and God bless you! – wrote Damir Beljo.
