Begović opened the Mjedenica Institute sports playground

Football representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Asmir Begović, today, as the main donor of the project, symbolically opened the Sports playground of the Institute for Special Education and Upbringing of Children Mjedenica, which is also the first project of the Asmir Begović Foundation in BiH. As winter slowed down the final works, the playground will be formally put into operation during the month of April, while his arrival for national team preparations was also used for this gathering with the students of the Institute, during which he got acquainted with their activities and curriculum.

The event was also attended by the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, the President of the Special Olympics BiH, Enver Ćosićkić, and as host, the Director of the Mjedenica Institute, Selmir Hadžić.

Emphasizing that it is precisely because of such projects that he looks forward to every new visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Begović expressed his joy at the opportunity to socialize with the students of the Institute.

- Sport is very important in the upbringing of every child, especially because it develops team spirit and all psychophysical capacities. That is why, as an athlete, I am especially pleased that I have the opportunity to bring sport closer to an increasing number of children and create conditions for them to start engaging in it themselves - said Begović, adding that he is happy that the Foundation's first project in Bosnia and Herzegovina is nearing successful completion, and that this is certainly not the last time the Foundation will bring joy to the children of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Stating that this assistance is very significant for the teaching process and the development of the physical and intellectual abilities of the students, the Director of the Institute for Special Education and Upbringing of Children Mjedenica, Selmir Hadžić, expressed hope that other public figures will follow Begović's example and help the development of the local community.

- We are truly delighted that we have finally realized a project that we have been planning for a long time, but for which we did not have the financial resources. A big thank you to Asmir for his selfless help, as well as to the representatives of the local authorities who provided all the necessary permits for the construction of the sports playground in the shortest possible time - emphasized Hadžić, reminding that more than 160 students with psychophysical development difficulties attend classes at the Mjedenica Institute daily.

Highlighting great satisfaction with the final realization of the project, the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, reminded that for the first time in its sixty-year history, the students of the Institute will be able to use the sports playground. "I am sure that the construction of this playground will be a great motivational factor for the children, especially for those who stay at the Institute 24 hours a day and who will be able to spend their free time on that field in the afternoon," said Hadžibajrić.

- This donation is just another proof that Asmir Begović is in the fullest sense our best ambassador. We are proud to have him by our side and I believe that from this very field we will get our new representatives at international competitions - stated the President of the Special Olympics BiH, Enver Ćosićkić.

The Asmir Begović Foundation was established with the aim of helping children in all spheres of life, with the main focus of the Foundation being the renovation and construction of sports fields in England and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Foundation's mission is to encourage as many children as possible to lead an active life and participate in various sports activities.
