Bećirović thanked France and President Macron for supporting the resolution

(Patria) - Before departing for New York, the BiH Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović spoke this morning with the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Francois Delmas.

Bećirović thanked the Republic of France and President Emmanuel Macron for their support in adopting the resolution on July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica committed in 1995. He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina greatly appreciates France's co-sponsorship of the Srebrenica resolution and that President Macron clearly stated last month in a public address that France would support the resolution.

The President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, stated that France will forever remember the suffering that Bosnia and Herzegovina went through during the war in the 1990s, especially the Srebrenica genocide of July 1995, which he described as the darkest moment Europe has seen since the end of World War II.

Thank you to France and President Macron for supporting our country and the adoption of the Srebrenica resolution, which expresses solidarity with the families of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide and demonstrates a commitment to justice and truth, said Bećirović.

Bećirović also thanked France for the principled and continuous support it provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to full membership in the EU and NATO.

Expressing support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European perspective, Ambassador Delmas said that France, as a witness to the Dayton Peace Agreement, will continue to support the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the conversation with the French Ambassador Francois Delmas, the BiH Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović is departing for New York to continue intensive activities aimed at adopting the resolution on July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica committed in 1995.
