Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović discussed strengthening and improving bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Vatican with the Apostolic Nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, Archbishop Francis Assisi Chullikatt.
Archbishop Chullikatt, among other things, pointed out Dr. Bećirović's active role in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on the international stage, and his commitment to peace, tolerance, and building trust. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a multi-ethnic state, and that is its wealth. Dr. Bećirović emphasized during the conversation that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Holy See are very friendly and thanked for the continuous support of the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Holy See recognized the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 7, 1992, and since then has consistently supported the progress of our country. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the few countries that has had the opportunity to host the supreme pontiffs of the Holy See on three occasions. Their visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina have had a primarily peace-making character, with messages of tolerance, cooperation, dialogue, and peace-building for all people, Bećirović emphasized.
The interlocutors expressed their belief that bilateral cooperation will remain at a high level in the future.
