(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović spoke in Washington with Congresswoman Ann Wagner, a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the United States House of Representatives and a Republican representative from the state of Missouri.
Bećirović thanked Congresswoman Wagner for her long-standing and consistent support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for her engagement in strengthening the partnership between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized that strong American leadership remains of key importance for preserving the security and political stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The member of the Presidency of BiH underscored that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a successful project and one of the oldest states in Southeast Europe. The thesis of certain lobbyists that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a "failed state" is misplaced and nonsensical. Such repugnant propaganda represents a disregard for the historical context and factual situation. It is an ignoring of everything positive that has been built with the help of the United States and the West, from rebuilt infrastructure, through the introduction of a single currency, customs, judiciary, the unified Armed Forces of BiH, to the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina is today formally a candidate for EU and NATO membership.
During the meeting, Bećirović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina offers significant economic opportunities for American companies, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He emphasized the importance of the Southern Gas Interconnection project as a key infrastructure and energy project that contributes to the energy security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the diversification of supply sources, and the strengthening of the strategic partnership with the United States.
The member of the Presidency of BiH highlighted the importance of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in the United States, especially in the state of Missouri, noting that it represents a strong link between the two countries and an important potential for strengthening political, economic and social ties. In this context, Bećirović expressed special gratitude to Congresswoman Wagner for her strong and concrete support for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in the United States.
Congresswoman Wagner confirmed strong support for an independent, sovereign and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of continuing reform processes and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
