Bećirović with Karen Pierce: Attacks on the BiH Constitution and the institution of the High Representative require a response from the international community

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović met in Dayton with the Special
Envoy of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) for the
Western Balkans, Dame Karen Pierce, as part of the activities of the international conference
marking the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

During the talks, Bećirović emphasized that in a time of serious threat to the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, strong and coordinated action by democratic forces is necessary, with the proactive and constructive engagement of the UK being of great importance. He particularly highlighted the significance of British involvement as one of the key witness states to the Dayton Peace Agreement. He stressed that the continuous and principled presence of the UK represents strong support for peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

In this context, Bećirović welcomed the recent visit of Dame Karen Pierce to Sarajevo, as well as the arrival of the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, assessing this as a clear signal of British commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović informed the British Special Envoy about the fact that the attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the authorities of the RS entity is still ongoing. He pointed to the seriousness of the current situation, stating that it is a systematic attempt to dismantle state institutions, with open support from authoritarian regimes. He conveyed that attacks on
the constitutional structure of the state and the institution of the High Representative in BiH require a clear and
decisive response from the international community.

Dame Karen Pierce confirmed the strong commitment of the UK to the independence, sovereignty and
territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that the security of the Western Balkans and the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina are of strategic importance for the British and European security structure. She stressed the full support of the British government for the High Representative and
his powers, in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, and stated that the
UK will remain a firm partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina in protecting peace and democratic institutions.

Incidentally, this meeting was also used for preparatory activities of the member of the BiH Presidency
during his upcoming visit to the UK, which is planned for next month of this
year.
