Bećirović with Michel: Strong support for BiH on the path to full EU membership

(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with President of the European Council Charles Michel in Baku.

On that occasion, he thanked Michel for the enormous support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially for the assistance in the EU's decision to open negotiations with our country.

Bećirović stated that full membership in the EU and NATO are key foreign policy goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized the continuous commitment to meeting European standards.

He also noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant progress in the past two years, which has been recognized by the European Commission.

The granting of candidate status for membership in the European Union in December 2022 and the European Council's decision to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina in March of this year were a significant impetus for the implementation of further reforms on the European path.



As one of the successes, Bećirović highlighted the full alignment of Bosnia and Herzegovina's foreign policy with the EU's positions.

President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to full EU membership.

The EU's support is a reflection of recognizing Bosnia and Herzegovina as a European partner and the importance of the European integration process for strengthening security and stability in the region and Europe.

At the end of the meeting, Bećirović thanked for the solidarity and assistance of EU institutions to areas affected by recent catastrophic natural disasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
