(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović received the Ambassador of the Federal Republic (FR) of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alfred Grannas, today on an inaugural visit.
Bećirović welcomed Ambassador Grannas and wished him a successful diplomatic mission, expressing readiness for further improvement of bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the FR of Germany.
It was stated that the relations between the two countries are very good, friendly, and without open issues, both on a bilateral and multilateral level.
The current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region was discussed.
Bećirović pointed out the principled stance and readiness of the FR of Germany to clearly react to anti-Dayton actions in our country, which was also confirmed by the introduction of sanctions against politicians who undermine the constitutional order and the Dayton Peace Agreement.
He pointed out the importance of continuous support from the FR of Germany for preserving peace.
He also touched upon good bilateral cooperation in the field of defense. He thanked the FR of Germany for its support through the NATO package for building the defense capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for its continuous support to the EUFOR Althea mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina following the Bundestag's decision to continue the participation of the German armed forces in this mission.
He emphasized the significance of the Berlin Process, initiated by the FR of Germany, with the aim of improving and intensifying regional cooperation, i.e., to accelerate the region's connection with the European Union.
He added that the adoption of the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a positive signal and an important step towards our country's European path.
The German Ambassador stated that the FR of Germany will continue to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and remains one of its main advocates for its European and Euro-Atlantic path.
He emphasized that the FR of Germany is one of the largest donor states and has been providing significant support to Bosnia and Herzegovina for years through development cooperation, the main goal of which is the path towards full membership of our country in the EU and NATO.
Possibilities for developing economic cooperation and improving overall economic relations were also discussed.
