Bećirović spoke with representatives of the European Parliament: EU will not tolerate attempts to destabilize BiH

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović held a meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament consisting of: Chair Davor Ivo Stier, Andre De Munter, and Živilė Urbonavičiūtė.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the European Union (EU).

Bećirović pointed to dangerous attacks on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized that without preserving the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is impossible to maintain peace and stability in our country and seriously work on accelerating European integration. In this context, he highlighted the importance of stronger EU support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the continuation of imposing sanctions on those who threaten peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

Representatives of the European Parliament delegation welcomed certain results achieved by the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina during this mandate. It was emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a realistic chance of opening negotiations with the EU, but that key reforms in the areas of judiciary, fight against corruption, and functionality of institutions are of crucial importance. They particularly stressed that the EU will not tolerate attempts to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the end, Bećirović emphasized the importance of intensifying the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, reminding European parliamentarians that Bosnia and Herzegovina's foreign policy is fully aligned with the EU's foreign policy. The interlocutors concluded that peace, stability, and the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina are a common interest of the EU and the countries of the region, and that dialogue, respect for international law, and mutual cooperation remain the foundations on which the future should be built.
