Bećirović spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe

(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the head of the Rwandan delegation at the Summit of the Future and the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe in New York.

Chairman Dr. Bećirović pointed out the importance of mutual understanding and empathy that connect Bosnia and Herzegovina and Rwanda. He said that Srebrenica and Rwanda should serve as a warning to humanity so that such evil is never repeated, to anyone, ever again.

Bećirović expressed gratitude for Rwanda, along with Germany, being one of the initiators of the Resolution that adopted July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.

Bećirović emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina appreciates this support, which is not only a gesture of solidarity but also recognition of the importance of remembering the suffering of innocent victims.

During the conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda reminded that Rwanda is marking 30 years since the genocide against the Tutsi people this year. He also stressed that the denial of any genocide established by UN courts is a criminal offense in his country, including the genocide in Srebrenica.

The interlocutors expressed their readiness to work together on the implementation of resolutions on the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica and against the Tutsi people in Rwanda in order to prevent the recurrence of such crimes in the future.

During the conversation, Chairman Dr. Bećirović and Minister Nduhungirehe highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Rwanda have good relations, but that there is significant potential for further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
