Bećirović: Attacks on my wife harm the interests of BiH

(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović was offended by media reports about his wife Mirela, who is staying in Washington at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump.

As part of this official trip, Bećirović's wife participated in a gathering dedicated to children, organized by the wife of US President Donald Trump.

The very participation of Mrs. Bećirović in the event dedicated to children and their rights, organized by the US, which is (co)responsible for the massacre of more than 160 girls in the bombing of a school in Iran, is also controversial.

To make matters even worse, Mrs. Bećirović sat next to Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.



In a post on Instagram, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency predictably offered his full support to his wife, emphasizing that she is currently in the US at the personal invitation of Melania Trump.

"This is an international gathering attended by spouses of high officials from several countries, including Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo," Bećirović wrote.

He further stated that Mrs. Bećirović had and continues to have his full support for participating in this gathering.

"All protocol matters, including the schedule of activities and seating, are exclusively within the jurisdiction of the host.

Also, due to a series of untruths, I am obliged to say that Mirela has never traveled at the state's expense. Therefore, I consider it important to be responsible in what we say and write.

Manipulating media headlines and interpretations harms the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Attempts at dirty spin by political masterminds and their paid liars are a continuation of their dishonorable work.

We will continue to build friendships with Bosnia and Herzegovina's strategic partners and all friendly countries.

We must fight for state interests in the most important world centers of power, not run away from responsibility and allow Bosnia and Herzegovina's enemies to lobby against our country," Bećirović wrote in his Instagram post this evening.
