Željko Komšić spoke with Japan's Ambassador to the UN Yamazaki
Kazuyuki at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.
Ahead of tomorrow's vote in the UN General Assembly, Bećirović emphasized the importance of the international community siding with justice and supporting the adoption of the resolution on July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide committed in 1995.
He pointed to the global importance of genocide prevention. Furthermore, during the conversation, legal, moral, historical, and other arguments were presented for
the adoption of the resolution commemorating the genocide committed in and around Srebrenica.
The importance of studying genocide in the education of children and youth was highlighted. The integration of this topic into the education system will provide foundations for building a more just society and will contribute to the long-term preservation of peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkan region, Bećirović concluded.
During the conversation, Ambassador Yamazaki Kazuyuki stated that Japan will vote for the resolution. Bećirović and Komšić thanked the ambassador for Japan's support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
