Bećirović-Girgin: Strengthening economic and political ties between BiH and Turkey

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Sadik Babür Girgin, about the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović emphasized that the brutal attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and
Herzegovina is still ongoing and that it is necessary to sanction individuals from the BiH entity of RS who, despite numerous warnings, are endangering security and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs the help and support of friendly countries, primarily those gathered around the Peace Implementation Council in BiH, in order to ensure stability in our country.

Bećirović stressed that he will not give up advocating for the fulfillment of two main
strategic goals: full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union and NATO. He stated that the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions is of particular importance, especially in light of the current geopolitical context. 

Ambassador Girgin emphasized that the Republic of Turkey continuously supports the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as our country's path towards full membership in the EU and NATO.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that there are good political relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries and that there are no open bilateral issues. Given that Turkey is a significant foreign trade partner for Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was stated that, in addition to good political relations, it is necessary to deepen economic cooperation, especially in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, tourism, agriculture, education, science, culture, and sports.
