Bećirević hosted "golden cadet" Amar Barukčija

The Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, has continued its long-standing practice of supporting sports collectives and individuals who best represent BiH in the world, reports the Patria News Agency.

On this occasion, Mayor Bećirević hosted Amar Barukčija, a member of the cadet basketball national team of BiH, which recently achieved historic success by winning gold at the European Championship in Lithuania.

Amar is a resident of Centar, and given that the Municipality encourages young people and values results, Mayor Bećirević decided to host the "golden cadet", congratulate him on his success, and present him with a monetary award.

-My sincerest congratulations to all of you who have written our country, as well as yourselves, into the history of European sports in golden letters. I hope you will not stop collecting new medals and that when you grow into the senior team, you will repeat the same result, said Bećirević.

Barukčija thanked Bećirević for the reception and emphasized that the support of the Municipality of Centar, the local community in which he took his first basketball steps, means a lot to him.

-First of all, I would like to thank Mayor Bećirević for the reception and the gift. The Municipality of Centar supports the club "Koš" where I train every year, and I am glad that the leaders of the local community where I live appreciate my results and the results of my team. Winning the European Championship title has given me more confidence, but also more responsibility and obligations. It is nice to see that someone follows my work and the work of my teammates, and that we have support, said Barukčija.

The father of the golden boy, Nijaz, also thanked Bećirević for the reception and financial support for his son.

-This gift means a lot to us, considering that I am a demobilized soldier, and any financial support for our golden son, of whom I am proud, is very welcome, emphasized Barukčija, it was announced from the Municipality of Centar.
