Bečarević: Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina borrowed 533 million KM last year

(Patria) - The accumulated deficit in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2024 amounts to 131,297,927 KM, and the borrowing in 2024 alone is 533 million KM, warns the president of the Cantonal Board of the Party for BiH of Canton Sarajevo (KS) and former minister in the KS Government, Almir Bečarević.

According to him, the accumulated unallocated surplus of expenditures over revenues/deficit in the balance sheet as of 31.12.2024 is stated in the amount of 180,141,377 KM, which is 131,297,927 KM more than the previous year.

For the stated amount, Bečarević adds, it is necessary to plan coverage of the realized deficit in accordance with Article 43, Paragraph 2 of the Law on Budgets in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Attention is drawn to this because the budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025 plans to cover a part of the realized deficit from 2023 in the amount of 15,000,000 KM (points 5.1 and 6.2.3 of the report).

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina borrowed in 2024 based on 11 bond issues in the total amount of 533,000,000 KM, with interest rates ranging from 3.25% to 5.25% (point 6.3.4 of the report)", added Bečarević.
