A press conference was held at Bilino Polje stadium, where selector Mehmed Baždarević and captain Edin Džeko addressed the journalists.
– You all know that tonight we have a training session where we will definitively decide who will start the match. We have dilemmas, but we will resolve them after tonight's training – said Baždarević.
When asked about the situation with Pjanić and whether there is a backup plan in case he cannot play all 90 minutes, Meša said:
– We worked and tried to prepare a backup plan, but I think it won't be necessary, because Miralem Pjanić has been training well and will be ready to play all 90 minutes. The Greeks will play as they have planned, regardless of whether they play with three defenders or not. We know they will play very toughly and that we will respond in the right way – said the Dragons' selector and added:
– We all know the atmosphere we are playing in, and certainly our advantage in this match is that we are playing on home turf.
Captain Edin Džeko said that we should not dwell too much on Greece's game and that the winning goal can be scored even in the last minute of the match.
– We must be patient regardless of how the Greeks play. The match lasts 90 minutes and the winning goal can be scored even in the last minute. We must think about how we play and how we defend and how not to concede a goal, given that we know how the Greeks play defensively and on the counter. We should not be our own biggest opponents. We know their quality, they cannot surprise us, and the most important thing is that we play the way we know how, and if we do that, we will achieve a positive result – said the captain of our national team, Edin Džeko.
