Bašić defeats Wawrinka, becomes second Bosnian tennis player in top 100

SOFIA, (Patria) - Bosnian tennis player Mirza Bašić defeated world No. 15 Stanislas Wawrinka in the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Sofia with a score of 2:0, sets 7:6, 6:4.

In the first set, neither player lost a single point on their serve, so the winner was decided in a tie-break. Bašić performed better there and took a 1:0 lead.

Wawrinka made the first break in the second set, confirmed it in the next game, and thus took a 4:2 lead. Our tennis player then won both of his service games and broke back, taking a 5:4 lead.

With this victory, Bašić will achieve a career-high ranking and will be the world No. 91 as of Monday. For the first time in history, our country will have two tennis players in the TOP 100.
