Banja Luka: Around 1.1 Tonnes of Cut Tobacco Seized Without Proper Excise Documentation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Acting on the order and in coordination with the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, police officers of the MUP RS PU Banja Luka, in the area of Banja Luka, discovered and seized around 1,100 kilograms of raw tobacco, without the appropriate excise and financial documentation, which was located in a cargo vehicle.

As part of the operation, persons linked to the transport of the seized tobacco were arrested.

Excise duties prescribed by law for 1 kg of tobacco amount to around 100 KM, and there is a reasonable suspicion that the transport of smuggled tobacco resulted in the evasion of excise duties and levies in the amount of around 110,000 KM, causing damage to the budget of BiH.

The seized tobacco will be deposited within the criminal proceedings, and a report on the criminal offense will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against the suspects.
