Balić: CEC confirmed - Samir Avdić is not the Mayor of Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed what we have been saying - Samir Avdić is not the Mayor of Sarajevo, announced tonight on social media the head of the SDA Councilors Club in the Sarajevo City Council, Kerim Balić.

"At the last session of the City Council, we presented serious facts that call into question the election of Samir Avdić as Mayor of the City of Sarajevo.

We pointed out serious omissions during the election, as well as the claim that Samir Avdić was not legally elected as mayor because the CEC BiH never issued him a certificate and because his election was never published in the Official Gazette, which is a legal obligation.

The first reaction to our claims from the ruling majority and the leadership of the City Council was correct, that is, they were of the opinion that our allegations should be checked.

Even Samir Avdić himself at the session, probably out of inertia, said that he agreed that this information should be urgently checked with the CEC. However, probably after consultations with his party, Avdić changed his position," Balić wrote on his Facebook profile.

At the collegium held two days after the session, he further writes in his post, the new position of Samir Avdić, as well as his party colleague - Vice-Chairman Biće (NIP), was that they did not want to seek information from the CEC and "as the opposition, we were outvoted."

"Immediately after that, we sent an official letter to the Central Election Commission of BiH and we have just received their response. The response, unfortunately for the City, is exactly what I expected:
‣ The CEC did not receive candidate applications for the Mayor of the City of Sarajevo for verification and certification;
‣ The CEC never issued a certificate to the mayor;
‣ The election of the mayor was never published in the Official Gazette.

Therefore, Samir Avdić was not elected in accordance with the law and consequently he is not the mayor," Balić writes.

These facts, he emphasizes, call into question all previous decisions and actions that Avdić signed in his capacity as mayor, and any future decisions and official actions he commits lead him to criminal liability for the criminal offenses of false representation, abuse of position, and negligent work in service.

"The SDA Club will contribute to resolving this constitutional and political crisis, into which the ignoramuses from the Troika have brought the capital of our country. The only solution we see is the conduct of new indirect elections in accordance with the law, and that will be our formal request," Balić concluded.
