The authorities in BiH have enabled the formation of a large number of veteran associations, which is a great deception of veterans. Fragmented like this, the associations are of no use - said Sarajevo sociology professor Esad Bajtal in an interview for the BiH news agency Patria .
He said it is shameful that the authorities have allowed former Army of RBiH soldiers, who put their backs into it when society needed it most, to now have to seek their rights on the street.
Two demobilized soldiers arrived on foot from Živinice to the building of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo on Tuesday, threatening to set themselves on fire because their families have been brought to the brink of existence.
Professor Bajtal believes that the problems of demobilized soldiers can only be solved by a strong umbrella association, which will know how to recognize the problems of demobilized soldiers, and then have the capacity to offer adequate programs for solving these problems. Unfortunately, such an association does not yet exist in our society.
- The inflation of veteran associations has made them meaningless, so individual, so fragmented, and that they actually serve no one except to say, from the authorities' point of view, that we are a democratic society, that there are associations of this or that kind. That is not right – Bajtal believes, writes NAP.
