So far unknown masked individuals, dressed in military uniforms, kidnapped 17 Turkish workers and engineers in Baghdad, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced today, reports the Patria News Agency.
The kidnapping took place in the northeastern part of Baghdad, Habibiya, Reuters was told by ministry spokesperson Sad Man. The AP agency states that the kidnappers broke into the caravans at dawn, where the workers, engaged in construction, were sleeping.
Last year, members of the Islamic State kidnapped 46 Turkish citizens, but they were released after three months of captivity.
