Plane skids off runway, 20 passengers injured

An Aisana Airlines plane skidded off the runway at Hiroshima airport on Tuesday, lightly injuring 20 passengers, reports the Patria news agency.  

Airport officials say that the plane touched the runway with its tail during landing, causing sparks, but fortunately no fire.

The airport was closed after the incident due to fears that its "structure" was damaged.  

The Airbus 320 carried 74 passengers and eight crew members from Seoul, South Korea. Fire department official Kyoichi Utsumi confirmed light injuries to 20 passengers, who mostly suffered scratches or bruises.

All passengers were evacuated using emergency slides. It is unclear whether the injuries were caused by the evacuation or the rough landing, AP reports.
