Austrian Reinhard Trischak new commander of EUFOR in BiH

(Patria) - Next month, specifically on June 26, 2019, the new commander of EUFOR in BiH, Brigadier General Reinhard Trischak, will take office in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Trischak is Austrian, and last year he particularly distinguished himself with a comprehensive presentation on the security and military perspectives of the Austrian EU presidency.

He will take over this duty from Major General Martin Dorfer. This decision was made by the Political and Security Committee on the appointment of the commander of the EU forces for the European Union military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The EU operation commander recommended that Brigadier General Reinhard Trischak be appointed as the new commander of the EU forces to take over from Major General Martin Dorfer from June 26, 2019.” The EU Military Committee accepted the recommendation of the EU operation commander on March 18, 2019. Brigadier General Reinhard Trischak is appointed commander of the EU forces for the EU military operation in BiH,” the Decision document states, among other things.

EUFOR's contribution to stability in BiH is important, but its contribution to BiH's path to the EU is equally important.

The EU Delegation works closely with EUFOR and all other actors in the security sector to achieve this.
