Arijana Memić: Every anniversary is difficult, and in February we have three

(Patria) - The eighth anniversary of Dženan Memić's murder was marked by laying flowers and reciting Fatiha in Velika aleja. Family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and fellow citizens gathered today at the place where Dženan sustained injuries on February 8, 2016, from which he died seven days later at KCUS.

The family of the murdered Dženan thanked those gathered for the support they have provided them over the years in their fight for truth, and Muriz Memić, Dženan's father, emphasized that his and his family's struggle is also a struggle for all our children and their future.

"This morning, when I opened my eyes after little sleep, I said, God give me strength. It was difficult for me to come here today, after leaving my crying mother at the doorstep. It's not just today. This is how it is when we go to hearings, when we have verdicts, and it's like this every day for these eight years," Arijana said with tears in her eyes.

"These anniversaries are something particularly difficult. Every February 8 when the attack on Dženan happened, every February 15 when his heart stopped beating. And February 17, when we left him at Kovači, touches every wound. Those who have lost someone of their own know this best. What a lie when they say time heals wounds. It seems to hurt more as time passes," Arijana added.

Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered Dženan, said that he will bring this story to an end if the state does not.

"I can now tell some people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs that Vahid Ćosić must be held accountable, he must be in the dock, everything started with him. His obedient Hasan Dupovac, we expect his final verdict which will open the door for further investigation. We have proven so far that we were right, evil forces still reign. We have changes in the Federation, people who want to help, but believe me, they can't. These roots are deep, from evil people, war profiteers, their children are not sacred to them, I have seen it all - they swore by their children. And they all lied to me, but we exposed and stripped them bare. Let me tell them once again, they cannot play with me, this is nearing its end, but it seems I am also nearing my end. I still believe in the people in the State Prosecutor's Office, but I can end this any day. I know everything, let them thank Ifet for me still being silent," Memić said.

The family of the late Selma Agić, who was hit by a reckless driver Sanjin Sefić at a pedestrian crossing, and who, along with her best friend Edita Malkoč, died from her injuries, also provided support on this sad anniversary. The accident happened on October 10, 2016.

A delegation from the Municipality of Ilidža, led by Mayor Nermin Muzur, also laid flowers at the 'Ranjeni kamen' (Wounded Stone) memorial, dedicated to the late Dženan. The delegation also included the Chairman of the Ilidža Municipal Council Tarik Stambolić, Deputy Chairmen Selver Zećirović and Amar Bungur.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has launched an investigation into the murder of Dženan Memić, and within that investigation, judge Dalida Burzić of the BiH Court has been suspended. She was the chief cantonal prosecutor when the indictment against Ljuba and Bekrija Seferović was filed for a traffic accident and obstruction of justice.
