Andriy Shevchenko new president of the Football Federation of Ukraine

(Patria) - Former AC Milan and Chelsea footballer Andriy Shevchenko was unanimously elected president of the Football Federation of Ukraine today.

Shevchenko received 93 out of 94 possible votes - he was eligible to vote as a delegate, but did not do so.

Shevchenko is the all-time top scorer for the Ukrainian national football team with 48 goals in 111 matches, scored from 1995 to 2012.

With Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan, and Chelsea, he won numerous trophies, and in 2004, he won the Ballon d'Or as the best footballer in the world.

He replaced Andriy Pavelko as president of the Football Federation of Ukraine, who held the position since 2015.

Pavelko is expected to be tried in Ukraine as part of a long-standing legal dispute over embezzlement charges.
