(Patria) – US B-52 bombers deployed to the Middle East due to what official Washington claims is a threat from Iran, have arrived at a US base in Qatar, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced.
The B-52 aircraft are part of additional forces that, in addition to the aircraft carrier 'Abraham Lincoln', the US military is sending to the Gulf due to what Donald Trump stated were 'clear indications' that Iran is a threat to US forces in the region, Reuters reported.
Iran has characterized the mobilization of US forces as an attempt at intimidation as part of a 'psychological war'.
At the same time, tensions are rising between the US, Iran, and European countries over Iran's partial withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
We remind you that Iran announced on Wednesday the suspension of some provisions of the agreement signed in 2015 with the US, Great Britain, Russia, France, Germany, and China. The US withdrew from the agreement a year ago, and over the past month, the US president has tightened sanctions on Iran and threatened sanctions on European countries doing business with that country.
Official Iran announced that as a consequence of its partial withdrawal from the nuclear deal, Tehran will halt the export of enriched uranium stockpiles, and warned that after 60 days it will resume uranium enrichment if the European signatories to the deal do not fulfill their promise to find a new financial mechanism that would allow European companies to do business with Iran despite the sanctions.
