World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has been named the best athlete in the world for 2014, according to the American Sports Academy, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
Djokovic won the race for best athlete against a host of stars - Lionel Messi, Floyd Mayweather, Rafael Nadal, Rory McIlroy and Peyton Manning.
Maria Sharapova has been named the best female athlete in the world.
Djokovic and Sharapova received the highest number of votes through the online voting conducted on the Academy's website from December 1 to 24.
