The Historical Museum of BiH is celebrating its 70th birthday this year, and this is the most beautiful gift we could have received, said the museum's director Elma Hašimbegović at a press conference during which the donation of $66,850 from the U.S. Embassy in BiH to the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina was announced, writes the Patria News Agency.
The donation is intended for the much-needed renovation of the Historical Museum of BiH. Ambassador Maureen Cormack emphasized that the Embassy is located directly across from the Historical Museum and "since we are 'first neighbors,' we want to be good neighbors as well and provide support to this important cultural institution.".
This aid, allocated from the U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in BiH, will enable the most urgent repairs to the roof and skylights of the historically and architecturally significant museum building.
