Ambassador Lončar gifted Macron the book 'Heroes of Mostar'

(Patria) - The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of France, Višnja Lončar, during a visit to the Élysée Palace and a meeting with the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron, presented him with the book "Heroes of Mostar".

On that occasion, the deeply peaceful message of this book was highlighted – a message of truth, remembrance, and warning. The book testifies to the horrors of war and the immense suffering of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian people during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.



Special emphasis was placed on the city of Mostar, where hundreds of innocent citizens perished – in camps, as human shields, and in the destruction that affected every segment of life. It also testifies to the superhuman courage of the defenders of the city of Mostar, who, under impossible conditions, defended and protected the lives of their fellow citizens.

This book is not just a record of the past, but a lasting reminder that truth is the only path to understanding and reconciliation. It speaks of the high price of peace and freedom, which the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina paid during the aggression and apocalypse that claimed more than 100,000 innocent lives of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.0

At the same time, the book represents a testimony to the strength, dignity, and love for their city – Mostar, which, despite the destruction, remained a symbol of resistance and life. It should be a bridge of truth for future generations, an example that love, tolerance, respect, and appreciation for diversity are the only path to lasting peace – values that were violated in the past by radical policies that attacked Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Lončar emphasized that she presented this book not only in her diplomatic role but also as a citizen of Mostar, on behalf of her murdered schoolmates and all innocent victims. She felt a personal and moral duty to inform President Macron exclusively with the truth – the truth about suffering, but also about the strength of a people to survive and maintain their dignity.
