The Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) to Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Michael J. Murphy visited the Mufti of Mostar, Salem-ef. Dedović, today.
The Mufti expressed gratitude to the ambassador for the continuous support of the U.S. Embassy in our country in realizing the religious rights and freedoms of the members of the Islamic Community throughout the entire Muftiate of Mostar.
The Mufti also informed the ambassador about the current situation regarding the Central Zone of the City of Mostar and the continuation of illegal works on the building of the Croatian National Theatre, which is met with disapproval among Bosniaks as it sends a message of discrimination against the Islamic Community, which has been trying for many years through legal means to realize its legitimate right at the site of the former Lakišić waqf.
The Ambassador, together with the Mufti and members of his team, walked to the city center and personally saw the situation on the ground regarding the illegal construction at the Croatian National Theatre and the adjacent location that the Islamic Community is seeking for its construction.
The American Ambassador expressed full understanding for the legitimate demands of the Islamic Community that are being challenged by the city administration in Mostar.
