Ambassador Arnaut on the Congress of BH Doctors in Germany: Politics in BiH Should Follow Such Examples

(Patria) - The 2nd Congress of BH Doctors in Germany was held at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Berlin, gathering 120 of the most eminent experts in various branches of medicine, including numerous heads of clinics from different parts of Germany, professors from several universities in this country, and owners of private practices.

The Congress was also attended by acting director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Hajrija Maksić, director of the General Hospital "Abdulah Nakaš" Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, representatives of ASA Hospital, guests from clinical centers in the USA, Norway, Qatar, Australia, and Sweden, as well as representatives of numerous sponsors.

Ambassador of BiH Damir Arnaut presented the idea of holding this Congress at the Embassy in Berlin last year at the founding assembly of the Association of BH Doctors in Germany, with the aim, as he emphasized, "of providing state support for networking our top medical experts in the most developed economy of the European Union and their participation in projects aimed at improving the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Ambassador Arnaut stressed that "such coordination results in a high level of cooperation among our doctors working in Germany, as well as easier transfer of their knowledge, experience, and other forms of assistance to experts, students, and patients in our country."

Preparations for the Congress lasted over eleven months and involved dozens of BH doctors in Germany led by the Main Board of the Association of BH Doctors. In addition to the ceremonial part, the Congress consisted of as many as 34 scientific sessions held simultaneously in three halls of the Embassy, and attendance at these sessions was recognized by German authorities for continuing education credits.

Congress participants thus had the opportunity to listen to lectures by leading experts such as Dr. Vahidin Žugor, head of the Urology Clinic in Bamberg, on the topic of robotic surgery; Dr. Senad Habibović, head of the Gynecology Clinic in Mayen; Dr. Samir Smajić, head of the Spinal Surgery Clinic in Düren; Dr. Mirza Pojskić, senior physician management at the Neurosurgery Clinic in Marburg; Dr. Alma Bećirević, head of Pediatric Medicine at the Clinic in Werdau; and numerous other leading doctors in the fields of neurology, pediatrics, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, spinal surgery, endovascular surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, visceral surgery, psychiatry, traumatology, family medicine, and other branches of medicine.

In his opening address, Ambassador Arnaut emphasized that the gathered experts collectively have over 1,000 years of education and tens of thousands of years of experience in the most complex medical tasks, and that this is a force with the capacity to lead Bosnia and Herzegovina into unprecedented progress in its history.

He stressed that this requires applying the same standards in our politics that are applied in Germany for advancement, and that the most responsible positions in the state should be held by people with similar academic and professional achievements.

Ambassador Arnaut and BH doctors agreed to soon begin discussions on the details of holding the 3rd Congress next year.
