Embassies of Great Britain and the USA: We expect a swift and thorough investigation in the 'Tegeltija' case

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - We are aware of the media reports, as well as the conclusions of today's special session of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and expect the competent institutions to swiftly and thoroughly investigate the allegations, stated the British Ambassador to BiH Matt Field on Twitter today.

"The independence, professionalism, and efficiency of the judicial system are key. For many years, we have been cooperating with judicial institutions, including the HJPC, to improve the entire sector," Field stated.

The US Embassy is also aware of the entire case and has stated that it expects a swift and thorough investigation. The Embassy states that an independent judiciary is the foundation of democracy, and that high-ranking officials in the judiciary should adhere to high standards.

We remind that the magazine Žurnal has recently published a series of news reports about the involvement of the head of the HJPC, Milan Tegeltija, in trading cases.

For this reason, a session of the HJPC was convened today, at which Tegeltija sought the support of his colleagues and claimed he was not guilty. At the same time, Žurnal published a video showing Tegeltija sitting and talking with the protagonists of this affair, businessman Nermin Alešević and SIPA inspector Marko Pandža.
