US Embassy to Konaković: No one is above the law!

By: A. Čorbo-Zećo

The US Embassy recently harshly criticized the FBiH Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramiz Isak, who ceremoniously welcomed arrested members of the FUP, and the press conference of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković, did not go unnoticed, who in the crudest way abused his position and from the position of BiH head of diplomacy defended the arrested individuals linked to a drug cartel.

The Public Relations Office of the US Embassy reiterates to Patria what they have stated many times before - no one is above the law.

“As we have said many times, an independent judiciary is the foundation of every democracy and everyone should respect it. No one is above the law. Elected leaders have a special responsibility to refrain from any comments or actions that discredit or undermine the work of police, prosecutors, or judges,” said the US Embassy.

We remind you that the head of BiH diplomacy and the president of the People and Justice party accused the prosecutor in the "Black Tie 2" case, in which his godfather Gordan Memija was also arrested, of being under political influence and stated that there is no evidence against certain detained persons!

To this day, it is unclear how Konaković knows what evidence the Prosecutor's Office has, and what the real motive for Konaković's public appearance is. The Association of BH Journalists, the HJPC, the Association of Prosecutors, and the SafeJournalists Network have previously reacted to this new scandal involving Konaković.

Using the Ministry's podium, Konaković, with unargued statements, casts the acting prosecutors in current cases in a negative light, but also tries to influence the outcome of such cases. The Association of Prosecutors of FBiH gives full support to their colleagues, who work daily to protect citizens' rights and fight against crime - stated the Association.

Prosecutors, as they pointed out, play a key role in preserving justice and respecting the law, and their independence from political influence is of fundamental importance. They called on all relevant institutions and society to support the independence of prosecutors, and politicians to refrain from public statements that undermine confidence in the work of the judiciary.

The Steering Board of BH Journalists reminds that Konaković has been verbally and always brutally clashing with the media for years, from various public office positions, especially attacking journalists who write critically about his decisions and the ways he performs public duties.

If this is connected with the Sky correspondence published last night in the show Istraga, in which Dženis Kadrić calls for the use of force against dissidents, it is clear that Konaković is following instructions from Dubai, and that the judicial authorities must urgently address and definitively clarify this case called "Black Tie".
