US Embassy on wearing uniforms of the RS Army: Competent institutions must respond adequately

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Law on Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2005 clearly defines the obligations, responsibilities and conduct of members of the Armed Forces of BiH. Calling on members of the Armed Forces, or anyone else, to act contrary to the provisions of this or any other law is irresponsible, unacceptable and contrary to the law, and the competent institutions must respond in an adequate manner, the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina told N1 today.

The US Embassy further stated that publicly challenging one of the key pillars of peace and security in BiH undermines the stability of the entire country.

''Rhetoric and calls for action of this kind are irresponsible and dangerous, and do not help Bosnia and Herzegovina achieve its publicly declared goal – European integration. 

The United States remains committed to preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to continuing our professional, productive and positive cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina'', the US Embassy in Sarajevo said.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, yesterday in Banja Luka requested from the command of the Third Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of BiH that at the next celebration of the anniversary of that regiment, more than half of the formation be dressed in uniforms of the former Army of Republika Srpska.
