Embassy of BiH in Serbia: No information yet if there are any BiH citizens among the victims in Novi Sad

(Patria) - The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Serbia currently has no information whether there are any BiH citizens among the injured and deceased in the horrific accident in Novi Sad.

"The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade has not received any information that any citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a victim," said Aleksandar Vranješ, Ambassador of BiH to Serbia, for "Nezavisne novine".

We remind you that the accident occurred shortly before 12 o'clock when the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed. The canopy that fell was built in 1964.

At the moment of the canopy's collapse, a large number of people were sitting on benches located underneath, and people in the hall were buying tickets.

Ivica Dačić, Minister of Police, said that nearly 80 rescuers from several cities are participating in the operation.

"An extremely difficult operation, which will certainly last for several more hours. Eight bodies have been pulled from the rubble," he said, adding that they have contact with two people who are under the rubble.
