Almira Lizde travels to Czech Republic for World Weightlifting Championship

Almira Lizde from Konjic has traveled to the World Weightlifting Championship, which will be held from September 16 to 23 in Trutnov, Czech Republic, reports the Patria agency.

Representatives from nearly 40 countries will compete in this event, and among them, the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina will also fly.

Lizde is a world record holder in weightlifting, in the deadlift discipline, according to the GPC federation.

At the World Cup in popular powerlifting under GPC rules held in early April in Sarajevo, Lizde lifted 230 kilograms in the deadlift discipline, in the category up to 90 kilograms, thereby breaking the previous world record of 220 kilograms held by Argentine Mariela Ortellado.

Lizde trains at the Neretva Weightlifting Club in Konjic. She previously engaged in Olympic weightlifting, but in recent years has dedicated herself exclusively to powerlifting.

Her coach Almir Karkelja also traveled with the Bosnian competitor to the Czech Republic.
