Aličković fined 500 KM for placing a banner for General Mehmed Alagić in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The initiator of the AntiDayton movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nihad Aličković, has been fined 500 KM for disturbing public order and peace. The incident occurred on August 11, 2024, when Aličković, together with several other individuals, placed a banner at the tram stop in front of the American Embassy in Sarajevo, which read: "We are all Mehmed – We are all General Alagić".

According to Aličković, the banner was placed on the fence of the tram stop between the Historical Museum and the American Embassy, without crossing the road towards the embassy or causing any disturbance. Police officers at the scene asked those present to stop placing the banner or they would call the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, which they did.

Aličković emphasized that all those present gave their personal documents to the police officers, and their data were duly recorded. He also pointed out that he even helped the officer securing the embassy, named Enes, by holding a lamp to facilitate the recording of data. Aličković claims that the allegations of refusing to provide personal data are false.

"There is absolutely no basis for the misdemeanor warrant; this is an attempt at intimidation and damaging my reputation," said Aličković. He added that he has never had any public order offenses nor been involved in criminal acts.

"500 KM is far too little for the honor of this man. There is no payment; see you in court to teach you a lesson," wrote Aličković on social media, announcing a fight against the imposed fine.

The Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton stated in the misdemeanor warrant that Aličković disturbed public order and peace by refusing a clear and loud order to remove the banner, as well as by refusing to provide personal data to police officers.
