Alić returns to training: Because of Amel, the whole world heard about Bosnia and Herzegovina, athletics in BiH has a future

Hamza Alić, a Bosnian shot putter, failed to qualify for the final at the World Championships in Beijing after throwing the shot 18.62 meters, but he has already resumed his training today with the hope of shining again at the Meeting in Zagreb.

He is especially proud of Amel Tuka, who was welcomed by nearly 10,000 people last night in Zenica at Kamberovića polje, and Alić believes that Tuka has a bright future ahead.

- Amel Tuka achieved a historic feat. Now, thanks to him, the whole world knows about Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially those who follow and love athletics. Athletics has its future and it is certainly one of the leading sports in BiH, especially after Tuka, who is the third white man in history to run such a good time, and that surpassed all expectations of our minds in BiH. We must never say it's enough, Amel is building momentum for a rich career that will come in the coming years, God willing - Alić emphasized.

He added that everything in Beijing was at a top level, but that he did not shine, although he is satisfied with the fact that he managed to meet the standard for the World Athletics Championships.

- It is not easy to meet the standard and go to such a big competition. But if you are a participant in such a spectacle, it means you belong among the great sports names. Now preparations follow for the Meeting in Zagreb, and after that a rest of about 20 days, then preparations for the next season and the Olympics in Brazil - Alić added.

Athletics has its future in BiH, Alić points out, explaining that the government structures in charge of sports should offer a better vision and more investment in sports.

- I especially think of athletics, where we have great potential. And if all that happens, the queen of sports in BiH could have a bright future in our country - Alić added.
